AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices such as TV remotes, MP3 players, and adult toys. Devices that operate at the same voltage but require higher current intensities typically use larger AA batteries. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries.
However, with the increasing efficiency and miniaturization of modern electronics, many products initially designed for AA batteries are now being replaced by models that accept AAA batteries. An AAA battery measures 44.5mm in length and 10.5mm in diameter. Alkaline AAA batteries weigh around 11.5 grams each, while lithium AAA batteries weigh approximately 7.6 grams, and rechargeable (Ni-MH) batteries typically weigh between 14 and 15 grams.
The nominal voltage of alkaline and lithium AAA batteries is 1.5V, while Ni-MH or NiCd batteries are rated at 1.2V. The capacities of alkaline AAA batteries usually range from 900 to 1155mAh.
